Dedication Supports Spokane's Community Dental Needs
Spokane, Wash., 21 May 2010 -- Members of the Spokane District Dental Society Foundation Board of Directors were present at today's Northeast Community Center expansion announcement, where details of the new Medical-Dental Clinic's services were revealed. The entire top floor of the 31,000 sq ft, 3-story building will house a dental clinic that will include 15 treatment chairs as well as accommodations for dental surgery.
Considered a truly innovative model for providing care for populations that have been traditionally under served, the new dental facility will be able to accommodate the growing need for services that outgrew its current capacity available at the Spokane Falls Family Clinic. The dentists and staff now practicing at the Spokane Falls Family Clinic will relocate to the new site upon completion. The dental clinic will also be staffed by dentists completing their residencies in general dentistry. The Spokane District Dental Society Foundation will coordinate participation by dentists volunteering their time at the clinic.
This project was made possible through a unique partnership with the SDDS Foundation, Yakima Valley Farm Workers, and Northeast Community Center. The dental clinic is expected to open in March 2011 (two months after the medical clinic) and will serve the surrounding community comprised of 47.5% of Spokane County's uninsured.
